Simon Hunt has been appointed to the new role of head of information security and compliance at iVendi.
He has worked as a freelance consultant for the company since 2017 and will take on the full-time role from the beginning of September.
Entering the IT sector in 1988, Simon has operated as an analyst programmer, a business unit manager in the IBM Business Partner programme and, since 2009, as an independent specialist in information security. His experience encompasses everything from banks, insurance companies and large retailers through to SMEs.
He said: “I have always been impressed by iVendi’s ambition and technical capability and am delighted to come on board as a fully-fledged team member.
“The company already enjoys a leading position in information security and data protection management in the motor retail technology sector and my aim is to enhance the visibility of how it protects customer and consumer data to give existing and prospective customers absolute confidence and peace of mind. They can be assured that their data is protected by first-class management systems and technical controls.”
He added that he would like to reinforce a security-first approach to data management and software development within iVendi, and to work with the company’s data and development teams to foster continuous learning with that aim.
“I also want to work closely and openly with our finance customers to promote a collaborative approach to security management. We should share objectives and ultimately operate as one larger team with a common goal.”
Simon’s role, explained Richard Tavernor, COO, is part of the company’s stated aim to double in size over the next three years.
He said: “Simon is very well known to us and is already a highly valued member of our team. We are very pleased to welcome him to this important position and are sure he will make a valuable contribution to our progress.”
